Where narrative becomes space.
How We Work
Every home holds a different story. Every client arrives at a different point in theirs.
We don't offer fixed packages because design that which is genuinely personal cannot be templated. Some clients need clarity and a clear direction. Others need a full partner from the first sketch through to the final installation. Our role is to understand where you are and build a service around that.
Complimentary Discovery Call (30-mins)
We begin with a conversation. Not about style, but about you, your home, a brief history and what you need the space to hold. There is no obligation. Just an honest exchange.
A Proposal Shaped Around You
From that conversation, we develop a tailored scope of work. The depth of service is guided by your project, your timeline and your investment. Nothing is assumed. Everything is considered.
Design Begins
Work commences with a clear process, transparent fees and a shared understanding of where we are going. Every decision made from this point is purposeful based on your brief.
Focused Design Services
-

Design Consultations
An hour with an experienced designer can reframe an entire project. Whether you are navigating a renovation, questioning a layout or looking for material direction, this is a focused session built around your specific questions.
Suited to homeowners who want professional clarity on a fixed hourly rate.
-

Design Concept
A fully considered design direction for a single room or an entire home. Spatial thinking, material palettes and a cohesive vision that reflects who you are. You lead the execution. We give you the foundation to do it with confidence.
Suited to clients who want expert direction and the freedom to self-manage.
-

Furniture & Styling
The objects within a home carry weight. We curate furniture, textiles and styling with intention — selecting pieces that bring depth and character rather than filling space. The result is a home that feels layered and lived in, not assembled.
Suited to clients seeking a considered, high-impact refresh.
-

Holiday Home Experience
Short-stay properties succeed when design and durability work together. We create interiors that make a genuine impression on guests while holding up to the demands of continued use — spaces that feel distinctive in person and photograph with integrity.
Layout, material selection and styling are all considered through the lens of guest experience and long-term value.
Suited to new listings, property refreshes and owners seeking stronger occupancy through considered design.
Each service is scoped individually based on your space and objectives. Fees are outlined clearly prior to commencement. We work intentionally and take on a limited number of projects at a time. This allows us to design with clarity, remain closely involved throughout the process and honour the level of care each home requires.
Not sure which service is right for you? Our complimentary 30-minute Discovery Call is the best place to start.

Design investment varies depending on scope, depth of service and whether the project involves furnishings, renovation or a full interior transformation. At Storey & Stone, fees are transparent and outlined clearly before any work begins.
Most clients invest between $3,000 and $30,000 for design work. Full interior design (covering spatial planning, material specification, joinery concepts, furniture, lighting and styling) sits toward the higher end, reflecting the depth of thinking and craft involved.
We begin with a conversation to understand your space, your story and how you want your home to feel. From there, we develop a proposal that is honest about cost and deliberate about where that investment goes.

Our design packages are created to give you clarity, confidence and a beautifully crafted direction for your home. Depending on your chosen service, your scope may include:
A personalised design consultation
Spatial planning and functional layout concepts
Material finish and colour palettes
Furniture, lighting and/or decor selections
Custom joinery concepts and/or documentation
Styling direction and procurement support
Trade recommendations and guidance
Every element is chosen with purpose. Nothing is included by default and nothing meaningful is left out.

Our process is deliberate and collaborative. It moves through five stages, each building on the last.
1. Concept and Consultation We begin by understanding your life. How you move through the home, what the space needs to hold and the feeling you want it to carry.
2. Design Development We shape the design direction through materials, spatial flow, light and texture. This is where your narrative begins to take form.
3. Detailed Selections and Refinement Joinery, finishes, furniture and every material detail are refined and specified. You receive an immersive, clear picture of the finished interior.
4. Documentation and Specification All documentation required to proceed to construction is prepared. Where relevant, we coordinate with architects and contractors to ensure alignment.
5. Implementation and Styling We support the final stage through procurement guidance, trade coordination and styling so the space arrives feeling complete, considered and genuinely yours.

Yes. And these are often the projects that demand the most from a designer.
Compact homes, apartments and heritage terraces require a level of spatial intelligence and restraint that larger projects rarely do. Every decision must earn its place. Circulation, storage, light and proportion all need to be handled with precision.
Whether it is a one-bedroom apartment, a Fitzroy terrace or a modest family home, we design spaces that feel deeply considered regardless of scale.
There is no minimum project size. If the space matters to you, it matters to us.
